For 39-year-old midwife Fay Caddye, buying her first home was about more than moving house. After renting in Haywards Heath for five years, she was settled and comfortable. But as time went on, owning a home began to feel like an important step towards long-term security.
"Being 39, it was starting to feel like the right time to buy a property," said Fay. "I'm single, so affordability was a really important factor in whether I could move or not. I was also being gently pushed by my father and godfather to get my own property for long-term stability.”

Since picking up the keys, Fay has settled more quickly than expected. “There are still boxes to unpack and furniture to find, but I know that this is all part of the fun of moving into a new home, I’m looking forward to putting up pictures and slogan signs, and making the house feel even more like my own.”
