For Patrizia Foot, moving to Elivia Homes’ Bluebell Gardens development in Wivelsfield Green marked the beginning of a happy new chapter for her and her two daughters, aged 13 and 9. Having spent most of her life in mid Sussex, Patrizia knew she wanted a home that offered the right school catchments, beautiful surroundings and the space her family needed. She found exactly that at Bluebell Gardens.
A fresh start with space and comfort
Born in Cuckfield, West Sussex, Patrizia’s early years were spent in Sicily with her two sisters, Sicilian father and Spanish mother, before returning to Haywards Heath at seven years old. After university in London she returned to Lindfield, where she lived for 18 years and raised her girls.
“After a difficult few years and a change in circumstances, we felt ready for a fresh start,” Patrizia explains. “We wanted to stay close to family but find somewhere new that truly suited us. We hopped just over the West-East Sussex border to find Wivelsfield Green and it felt perfect.
“A priority for our move was securing a place within the local secondary school catchment for my daughters, while also finding a home with generous bedroom sizes and green surroundings.
“Wivelsfield Green ticked every box and so did the house. It offered modern living in the countryside, with great connections to the nearby towns where I work and where my daughters go to school, as well as easy access to London, which we visit regularly. It felt like the right balance straight away.”
Finding the perfect home
Despite originally planning to purchase a second-hand property, Patrizia’s plans quickly changed.
“I must have viewed around 20 houses in the area, and I kept coming back to this one,” she says. “I hadn’t planned to buy a new build, but the moment I saw this home - double-fronted and beautifully finished - me and my girls fell in love. They were thrilled with the bigger bedrooms as neither of them had to compromise on size, and both immediately said, ‘I love this house. I feel like we’ve lived here forever.’ That’s when I knew it was the one for us.”
Patrizia chose a three-bedroom detached home, impressed by its layout, quality and charm.
“There are so many details I love. The bay windows, the garden and the views, a utility room, which I’d never had before. But the kitchen is my favourite. It’s spacious with room for a table and chairs and even a seating area, bright and truly the heart of our home. We cook, eat, do homework and entertain in there. With the triple aspect windows, the light is just incredible.”
“The development itself is small, cosy and very green compared to many larger ones you often see, which was a big plus when making my final decision.”
Settling into life in Wivelsfield Green
Although she hadn’t spent much time in the village previously, Wivelsfield Green quickly became the perfect fit for the family.
“We’re surrounded by greenery, with beautiful walks and bike rides we enjoy together,” says Patrizia. “It’s only eight minutes to work for me, seven minutes to school, and the girls’ dance classes are so much easier to get to now – this is particularly important as they go five times a week! My eldest also loves the independence of getting the bus from the bottom of our road, and all her new friends live locally.”
A home that marks a new beginning
Reflecting on her decision, Patrizia is full of gratitude.
“I’m so grateful to be here. It was absolutely the right choice - the best I’ve ever made. We haven’t had to do a thing to the house; everything is exactly how I would have designed it. We could just move in and start living.”
