Pupils from The Vale Primary School in Headley enjoyed a special educational visit to Elivia Homes’ new Headley Chase development, where they helped install bug hotels, whilst learning about biodiversity and sustainable construction.
A class of year 3 children visited the site to discover how nature and new homes can work together to support local wildlife alongside creating thriving communities for residents. During the visit, the children worked alongside the Elivia Homes team to place bug hotels around the site, helping to encourage insects and pollinators to flourish in the area.
The session also gave pupils the opportunity to learn more about biodiversity, habitats and the role sustainable construction can play in protecting the environment.
Headley Chase is an exclusive collection of new homes in the Surrey village of Headley, designed with sustainability in mind. The development incorporates a range of eco-friendly features, including air source heat pumps, EV charging points and enhanced biodiversity measures.
Sarah Turpin, Sales and Marketing Director for Elivia Homes Central, said: “It was wonderful to welcome the pupils from The Vale to the Headley Chase again, and share with them the importance of biodiversity and sustainable development. We’re delighted to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic about the environment and we hope we have inspired them to think about how we can all help the local ecosystem to thrive.
“This is the third time that we’ve worked directly with a class at The Vale Primary School and it’s always a pleasure to welcome them onto the site.”
Mrs Chenery, Year 3 class teacher at The Vale Primary School, said: “The children had a brilliant time visiting the site and learning more about biodiversity in a real-life setting. Installing the bug hotels was a fantastic hands-on activity and helped bring our classroom learning to life. We’re very grateful to the Elivia Homes team for making the visit so enjoyable and educational.”
