After many happy years in their four-bedroom home in Guildford, James and Michele Harrison were ready for a new chapter - but weren’t expecting to find exactly what they’d been designing in their heads waiting for them at Elivia Homes’ Willowbank Place in Send.
James and Michele had originally planned to renovate their former home, but with their jobs meaning they worked from home regularly, they quickly realised living through a major construction project wasn’t viable.
“We were planning to knock through the kitchen, dining room, and study to create the layout we’d always wanted; but it wasn’t practical. That’s when we started to consider a brand-new home instead.”
Having worked in the new homes industry for almost 30 years, James was well aware of the benefits a new build could offer - yet the couple had never actually purchased one themselves. This time, however, it was the perfect option.
“If we were going to move, it had to be for a new build,” explained James. “If a house needed work, we might as well stay where we were. A new home meant a modern kitchen, energy efficiency, and no disruption.”
After viewing several developments in the Guildford area, Willowbank Place was the third they visited, and it was the one that instantly felt right. “We walked into the Papercourt housetype and saw the kitchen-diner with an island and French doors. It was almost the exact plans we had for our old home, so it removed the hassle of renovating,” said Michele.
The Harrisons were also impressed by the overall quality and presentation. “The layout was really well considered, and the finishes were excellent,” added James. “We liked the neutral colours, and the design gave us nothing to dislike. Since moving into our new home, we’ve settled in so well and are really enjoying everything our home offers, from the generous kitchen-diner and handy utility room to more practical things like having direct garage access and the additional external storage.”
The buying experience, they say, was straightforward and well-supported. “Lisa in the sales office was brilliant, and Alex in aftersales has been fantastic too,” said James. “Everything has been handled professionally.”
Though they weren’t familiar with Send before, the Harrisons have quickly grown to love their new village setting. “We’d only ever driven through before or popped into the New Inn pub,” said Michele. “But we’ve discovered how well connected it is, with easy access to Guildford, Woking, and the A3. It’s a great central base for us to be able to travel to local towns, as well as the capital.”
When asked if they’d recommend Elivia Homes, their response is emphatic: “Absolutely. We’ve already been telling friends and family how positive our experience has been.”
